On the Friday taping of "The Queen Latifah Show," the iconic Dolly Parton showed up in a black body suit, a big bushy blonde wig, and spit some rhymes. Yes, that's right. Dolly Parton, country music royalty, has added rapping to her long list of accomplishments.
The story of Parton rapping is making the rounds prior to her appearance on the Oct. 21 episode of Queen Latifah's talk show. Yahoo News reported Oct. 18 that the 67-year-old country music legend had a bit of fun laying down some hip hop lines as the "Queen of Dollywood."
Was it all just a joke? Dolly Parton's sense of humor is almost as legendary as the woman herself. She never seems to miss a chance to issue some self-deprecating line about her boobs, her wigs, her cosmetic surgeries, or her life in general.
Parton started off with a little house shout-out (a little Queen Latifah territory there) with: "Hey! Ho! Hey! Ho!" With her arms waving in cadence, she laughed, "I ain't calling nobody no names. I'm just saying, 'Howdy!'"
She also paid tribute to her iconic assets -- her boobs. She gave a verbal nod to Queen Latifah's assets as well, rapping, "Now I don't hip and I don't hop, I'd black both eyes with this big top," she sang in cadence while the audience clapped along to the beat. "I know the Queen has got them too, but she don't work them like I do. Look at them go!"
And then she switched to a shot at Miley Cyrus, who played her granddaughter on the Disney hit "Hannah Montana": "Hey, Miley. I got your wrecking balls right here."
(For those not in the know, Miley Cyrus sat naked atop a huge wrecking ball in her latest music video, appropriately entitled "Wrecking Ball.")
Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah's relationship goes back a few years. In fact, the two starred together in the 2012 theatrical release, "Joyful Noise."
The singing legend announced Oct. 20 that she would soon be touring Australia for the first time since 2011. The tour starts in February and will showcase material from her forthcoming Blue Smoke album, according to Nashville Gab.
