'Dollhouse' star Dichen Lachman to join cast of 'Being Human'

Dichen Lachman of Joss Whedon's TV series Dollhouse will join the cast of SyFy's Being Human when the second season premieres this month.

Lachman will play Suren on Being Human, a vampire royal who has a complicated past with Aiden (Sam Witwer), the vampire third of the vampire-werewolf-ghost trio of roommates who star in the show. Very little is known about Suren yet, but her coming to Boston was heavily foreshadowed (and outright announced) in the finale of season one.

On Dollhouse, Lachman played Sierra, a Doll with a very tragic back story. Her relationship with fellow Doll Victor was proof that love functioned on a level that couldn't be reached by the technology used to re-program the Dolls' brains.

Being Human executive producer Jeremy Carver told The Hollywood Reporter of Lachman's character:

"She's been away for a very long time and her reappearance on the scene, for Aidan -- a guy who is always trying desperately to divorce himself from vampires and vampire-ism -- she's the worst temptation to come down the pike," he says. "Part of it is the romantic past that they share."

For an actress with the amazing range and incredible sensitivity of Lachman, the role of this complex character sounds perfect.

Can’t stop the signal: Being Human season two will premiere on Syfy on Monday, January 16th at 9pm.
