With the change of seasons, I've been feeling the need to do a little redecorating.  I decided I wanted to make my kitchen feel a little more beachy - after all, the beaches are one of the best parts of living in West Michigan!

The supplies for this project all came from Dollar Tree.  You will need:

  • A square mirror or picture frame ($1)
  • Three wine glasses in varying heights ($3)
  • River rock fishbowl gravel ($1)
  • Three votive candles ($1 for 3)
  • Ribbon (mine was on hand, left over from another project!)

The total cost for this project is a mere $6, but the impact is priceless!

Using a mirror amplifies the amount of light given off when the candles are lit; if using a picture frame, insert a sheet of scrapbooking paper in the frame to dress it up, or create an original piece of artwork to set the candles on.

For a different look, try using sand or glass marbles instead of river rock for the space around the candles.  Customizing the colors of the candles and ribbon give this project an infinite number of variations.  It is appropriate for your dining room table, or could be used as a wedding reception decorating.
