Every year, people are excited about the month of January because it means a new month and new year that gives people hope and encouragement to focus on new beginnings like making a life changing decision such as finding a new job – or a job period, if still unemployed.
As the US economy continues to push forward in hopes of getting fully out of the recession, many people still find themselves without employment.
But there is good news for people who are desperately trying to find employment in order to support themselves and their family.
Dollar General Corporation, headquartered in Goodlettsville, Tenn., plans to open 635 new stores and 550 relocations in 2013 with expectations to hire 6,000 workers to fill those positions.
With the addition of these jobs in 2013, Dollar General will have created approximately 30,000 jobs in the last six years.
Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO is thrilled to continue growing the retail chain because he believes the growth is reflected on customers’ satisfaction with the store.
“Dollar General’s continued growth reflects our customers’ increasing satisfaction with our everyday low prices and convenience,” said Dreiling. “Further, 2013 will mark another growth milestone as we plan to open the organization’s 11,000th store before the year’s end when we will begin our 75th anniversary in 2014.”
Dollar General is interested in attracting a high caliber pool of candidates and to achieve this goal, the company participates in a proactive hiring initiative such as Paychecks for Patriots that demonstrate their commitment to an employee base including veterans.
The Paychecks for Patriots program helps resolve the challenges of unemployment facing veterans by equipping the military community with the resources to better access available job opportunities at committed companies.
Determined to find and attract new employees, executive vice president and chief people officer Bob Ravener is excited to welcome new talent.
“Dollar General is a thriving organization looking to attract new employees that embody our mission of ‘Serving Others,’ which complements the company’s efforts to promote from within,” Ravener said. “We are excited to welcome new talent with a passion for the retail business."
Interested candidates seeking to find employment with Dollar General should visit the company website and fill out an online application.
