The doll collecting industry continues to streamline and merge as advertising dollars have fallen off. Back in the day we had Barbie Bazaar Magazine, Millers Fashion Doll Magazine, Vicky's Dolls in Print, Doll World, DOLLS, Doll Reader, then Haute Dolls and more magazines and publications devoted entirely to dolls.
Nashville's "Millicent's Attice"
Although most were available through subscription only, in Nashville my own Nashville-based doll publication, "Millicent's Attic," was available for two years at Phillip's Toy Mart, Lindsey's Doll Cottage and through the Belle Meade Plantation Belles Doll Club in the late 1990s.
Doll Publications Close Doors
Miller's, Vicky's, Doll World, Millicent's Attic, and Barbie Bazaar eventually closed their doors as did Haute Dolls, which at some point apparently became a special section with a flip cover in Doll Reader magazine.
Doll Reader and DOLLS Merge
Now Doll Reader and DOLLS have announced their plans to merge into one magazine in 2012 published under the name DOLLS by Jones Publishing. The announcement was made Jan. 27, 2012 at the Debut of Dolls and DOTY Awards Banquet during the IDEX trade show in Orlando, Fla.
New Doll Magazine to Partner with IDEX
It was also announced the new doll magazine entity was partnering with IDEX. DOLLS and Doll Reader's sister publications, Teddy Bear Review and Teddy Bear & Friends, will also merge as part of the overall merger.
