Tis the season to be giving, fa la la la la, la la, la la. Tis the season it is, especially for doll collectors. It’s a wonderful chance for us to take the time to give to charity, either through our local churches or local organizations. Also, it’s an opportunity to support local doll and toy shops in our area.
Over the weekend, I was in the town of Mamaroneck, New York, looking for dolls, that I could purchase for donations to my church’s giving tree. Our giving tree was set up for collecting gifts to be donated to children from poor areas of our city.
I mentioned in an earlier article, that I wanted to visit a store called Miller’s because I spotted cute baby dolls in their store window. They were the Newborn Nursery Babies from Madame Alexander. Well, I finally got an opportunity to go to Miller’s this past Saturday. I knew they were cute, but I didn’t expect to fall in love with these little ones on the spot. I purchased the two, and found it hard to part with them. But, my soul purpose was to purchase these dolls for children who wouldn't normally have gifts for Christmas.
Miller’s is a toy and bicycle store, and although they don’t have a huge selection of dolls, they do have enough dolls to keep the spirit and the tradition of doll collecting alive. I did find the selection of dolls to be diversified and that was very satisfactory.
Miller’s a wonderful place to shop for dolls and toys. It maybe a little pricier than larger toy stores, but they have wonderful customer service. They are quite attentive to their customers, particularly to children who love to roam the aisles of toys in the store. Needless to say I will be going back there, but next time it will be a gift for me!
Happy Doll day shopping!
