The US Department of Labor is funding Stand Down grants to nonprofit organizations assisting veterans. Nonprofit organizations including faith-based, community based and neighborhood partnerships are eligible to apply. Applicants must be familiar with the areas in which they serve.
What is a Stand Down event? These are events held in a local community where homeless Veterans are provided a wide range of social services. Applicants must demonstrate a plan where funding will be used to purchase or rent goods or services for homeless Vets only.
To be eligible the organization must provide the following goods and services:
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical and mental health services;
DOL State Workforce Agency employment and training services to include Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program (DVOP) specialist and Local Veterans’ Employment Representative (LVER) participation where available;
Hot and/or cold foods;
Clothing appropriate for the local climate;
Referral services to secure emergency housing on-the-spot.
