Dogs Sexually and Physically Abused

A while back there was an article in the Seattle Times that caught the attention of several pet owners; this article was about the sexual abuse of a pit bull. Sexual abuse is not something to be taken lightly. In this case the abuse occurred not between two people but between a man and his dog. Although it is not unheard of it is rather disturbing.

In Gresham Oregon Brandon Vongthongthrip was arrested on Thursday April 30th,2009 for sexual assault of an animal, and aggravated animal abuse. This poor dog was subject to hundreds of sexual assaults as well as physical abuse. Authorities found the culprit in a most interesting way; Mr.Vongthongthrip had posted videos and photos of himself and his dog on the internet.

What’s more is that the accused lived with his mother and her fiancé. Three people in the same home and something this horrific still happened. Thankfully the dog was removed from the home and will be treated and examined by professionals

Animal abuse is something that should be taken seriously, it is not a game. There are a number of services available to help train your dog. If you can not take care of your furry friend then please do not be ashamed to give them up.

This story is only one example of what can happen behind closed doors. There is a difference between training your pet and just plain abuse. If you or someone you know needs help training please seek it. Dogs do not have the ability to leave a dangerous situation so it’s up to there two legged friends and care takers to keep them safe.

Please don’t let this happen again, no dog deserves to be treated like a punching bag.

If you would like to report an anonymous case of abuse Dumb Friends League has a form you can submit as well as helpful tips and information. The Humane Society also information at their various shelters and online, these are just two sites that offer services to help promote awareness as well as rehabilitation for animals who need help.

If you would like to donate to the prevention and awareness of animal abuse please visit either of these site or one of the many others available online.
