Individuals who believed the claims put forth on the website for a Maltese breeder in Massachusetts are feeling duped after officials revealed that the dogs were living in deplorable conditions, reported Tuesday's Boston CBS News.
Framingham Animal Control seized 19 dogs from breeder Kim LeMarie, owner of Laptop Maltese.
Most of the dogs were found inside of a filthy room at the Red Roof Inn in Framingham.
Code Enforcement Officer Pamela Wilderman said:
There were piles of debris and newspaper covered in feces. She doesn’t have a breeder license and none of the dogs are kept in clean situations at all.
More dogs were found, and seized, from LeMarie's Marlborough residence.
The website for Laptop Maltese has page dedicated to the topic of "Responsible Breeders," but the conditions in which the dogs were being kept were a far cry from what is considered responsible.
Potential customers who gave LeMarie a down payment for a puppy are crying foul because they did not receive a puppy as promised.
LeMarie blames the decline in her breeding business on her own recent bout with an illness, and stated:
“I just adore the dogs and my clients. I never meant for this to happen,”
