While Macon Animal Control and local rescue groups scramble to get all of the pets in the shelter out alive before the shelter closes June 6, other area dogs still need help.
Buddy was rescued off the streets by a Good Samaritan. He is a special case, because he was abused and then abandoned. Buddy still suffers somewhat from the effects of that trauma. In spite of that, Buddy has learned to walk well on a leash, sit, lie down and come to you on command. He enjoys attention and likes to have his coat brushed.
Buddy needs a home with someone who is willing to take the time to let him get over his fears and learn that he is truly, finally safe in a new forever home. Contact Casey via e-mail if you think you can give Buddy the home he deserves. Check out Buddy's photos in our slideshow.
Lizzie and Boomer are also looking for a new home. They were originally shelter rescues and are older dogs at about 9 years of age. Their current owner says they are active and in good health, current on shots and altered.
The best situation for Lizzie and Boomer is a home where they can stay together, as they've been their whole lives. However, if that isn't possible, they can be separated.
Sometimes, life happens and not in a good way. In rare cases, the only recourse is to find beloved pets a new home. No one likes it, and some refuse to accept that now and then, this is the only thing a loving owner can do to keep from turning the pets in to the pound, where they'll almost certainly die.
Please take a look at Lizzie and Boomer in the slideshow and, if you can help, please do. This is a heartbreaking situation for their owner, so please don't respond unless you can help with the dogs.
