Dogs held as evidence to be killed after 3 years

Halifax, NC - Three years in dog prison - three years that two dogs have spent locked behind bars in a kennel cement run, isolated from life.

Now, the two dogs who have called an animal control facility "home", are facing certain death.

The dogs were confiscated so long ago after a  dog-fighting ring was discovered.

The dogs were seized and they have been held as evidence ever since (one dog was so horribly injured that he was euthanized).

These two dogs have never had a real life - they have not been allowed to experience simple joys.

The dogs, Pit bulls of course, were used by the despicable individuals who chose to throw them into a fighting ring.

They were subsequently sequestered from life - and now, they are going to be put to death.

That is, unless a rescue organization will commit to them.

A compassionate individual has been fighting for these two lives - she has contacted rescues, sent out pleas via Facebook - she has exhausted every avenue that she can think of - to no avail.

This person has been able to talk to the District Attorney who is handling the case - and this District Attorney wants to see these dogs live too.

The DA believes that the judge will allow the dogs to live IF there is a rescue who will be committed to take them in.

Without that commitment - they will die.

They will die after being used to fight. They will die after spending years locked up away from life.

There is a volunteer at this facility - she reports that the dogs are very affectionate. Whenever they are presented with the opportunity to interact with a person, they do so with gusty enthusiasm.

There are, however, no notes on the dogs' behavior around other dogs. This facility does not do temperament testing. No dogs are even allowed out together.

Anyone who has access to a rescue organization willing to give these two dogs a chance at life is asked to contact:

Christina at: christinagr21@yahoo.com, or Nancy at (252) 532-3796.

As a sidenote, please do not call or email with Best Friends as a potential suggestion - both women have received a response from Best Friends and the organization is not able to assist with this situation - they are full.

This is the only chance that these dogs stand of having a real life. According to the person who is trying to save their life, the facility that they are at is essentially a "hold and kill" organization - dogs do not leave alive.

Thank you for taking a moment to share their story - thank you for giving these two dogs some hope - something more than a bitter ending to a sad tale.
