Dogs are a prize, not a fighter

Ron Burns is at it again on trying to help the precious dogs and the whole dog fighting issues of the United States. He has been featured on the Extreme Makeover – Home Edition, CNN, Fox News, Good Morning America and has had many other national television spots as well. He is also a household name throughout the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) as being their “Artist-in-Residence”. He has again decided to work with the HSUS and create a portrait of a rescued pit bull and permit his work for the HSUS to create shirts and other items to sell with 100% of the proceeds going to the HSUS Animal Fighting Campaign to help stop dog fighting. This shirt was created to portray the pure greatness in these dogs and bring awarness of an on-going issue.

The picture is of Cecil, a rescued pit bull. Cecil was found in a busy parking lot looking for food. He was begging for someone to take him home but he found shelter at a local animal shelter. They look at HIM and not his BREED and decided to help him out and find him a home. The shelter found him a great and loving forever home. Cecil became the poster dog for the HSUS in their campaign to end dog fighting. Ron paints portraits that portray their strengths, personality and integrity. Ron would like to reach as many people in the United States as possible and send everyone a very clear message with his shirt – “Prize, Not Fighter”. These dogs should be treated as a prize to have, not as a fighting machine. They just want to be loved.

Ron stated, “Seeing the dogs and hearing what Michael Vick had done really just broke my heart. I knew I needed to do something to help, something so that it doesn’t happen to more dogs.” He really has a love for animals and it really shows in his work. “Because of my affiliate with the HSUS, teaming up to sell these shirts and to give all proceeds to their fight to stop this horrendous practice seemed like the obvious way to use my artwork and help” , said Ron Burns. You can purchase yours by going to his website Ron Burns or to the HSUS for only $26.00. If the t-shirt is not your thing, you can also pick up several other items with the Prize - Not Fighter logo. They offer dog shirts, bumper stickers, magnets, stickers, hats, buttons and even mugs. Check it out here.

Great way to help support anti dog fighting campaigns - and have some beautiful art to show it :)

He truely is a very gifted artist. Check out the article on "Lullabies have gone to the dogs". It is also his story of his beloved dog, Rufus, that he created a book of lullabies for children to read to their dogs. I was very fortunate to have seen the book and the illustrations were exceptional. His painting are great.

I am very happy people like him are out there helping with this cause and creating such beautiful portraits of these beautiful dogs.
