If you haven’t taken your dog out to a restaurant before make sure to do a few training sessions with your dog around the table and food first.  The quickest way to ruin the fun for every one and have all dogs banned is to go with your dog unprepared.

Since many outdoor restaurants have tables situated in a way easily accessible for your dog to reach, set the scenario up at home.  Have a snack or meal on your living room coffee table with your dog present.  Practice having your dog sit or down the entire time that you are eating.  With a little practice you and your dog will be ready to go out and enjoy different restaurants in a well behaved way.
