Animal Planet’s Dogs 101, which will air this Saturday, November 6, at 8 PM ET, will feature a well-known NYC greyhound, Shiraz, and owner Sheryl Matthys. Shiraz, a rescue, inspired Sheryl to form the dog social networking group Leashes and Lovers, through which dog lovers meet others of their kind, and later was the inspiration behind her best-selling book, “Leashes and Lovers: What Your Dog Can Teach You About Love, Life and Happiness.”
In her book, Sheryl encourages dog lovers to let your dog lead the way to successful relationships by asking the question, “What Would My Dog Do?” Sheryl shares tips and stories told by celebrities including Cesar Millan, Howard Stern, Rachael Ray and others. The book covers life’s spectrum on how one’s dog impacts dating, friendships, breakups, bereavement, and even family ties.
It was through Shiraz’s love that Sheryl was able to form the group, meet and interview celebrities, learn tips from experts and become one herself!
Saturday’s episode of “Dogs 101” will tell their special love story and follow Sheryl and Shiraz to a Leashes and Lovers cocktail party in Manhattan, on a kayaking adventure, and into their home with the four-legged kids. You may even spot some other familiar New York dogs in the Leashes and Lovers cocktail party scene.
