On Monday, a beautiful pit bull mix was dumped at a veterinary clinic in a small, rural town south of San Antonio, Texas.
The dog was abandoned by a man, presumed to be her owner, with severe injuries to her neck. The man had indicated to the veterinary staff that he would wait outside with his dog until they could be seen, but he did not wait...he drove away, leaving the seriously wounded dog behind.
The dog, now known as "Janna," had a deep, ulcerated wound which stretched from ear to ear. It was so deep that it nearly severed her jugular.
It is unknown if the injury was inflicted by a knife, or if it was the result of a deeply embedded collar. The tissue which had formed around the wound led the veterinarian to conclude that her trauma occurred about two weeks ago.
Thankfully, the veterinarian was able to stitch the deep, gaping wounds, and will be performing her spay surgery as soon as she is healthy enough.
Now, what is needed for Janna is a rescue or foster home which will help her as she recovers.
Janna appears to be good with other dogs, but is likely not a good fit with cats (based upon her reaction to those at the veterinary clinic).
Those who have met Janna describe a sweet dog who is still eager to please, despite the horrors she has survived.
Please take a moment to network on Janna's behalf. She needs a safe, loving home to recover in.
