Dog with human face adoption: Indiana shelter has Tonik

The dog with the human face is up for adoption. Tonik, a Shih-poo (half Shih-tzu, half poodle) was rescued from a kill shelter in Kentucky and is available for adoption at the Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group in Indiana. On Feb. 5, Huffington Post reported that Tonik is looking for his "forever home."

Tonik became "famous" when his photos appeared online and the site, Gawker, pointed out that his face looked very human-like. Whether it's his big brown eyes, his hair cut, or his facial expressions, Tonik does look more like a "human" than most other dogs. Whether that's a turn-off for some people remains to be seen.

Nonetheless, the dog with the human face is available for adoption pending an application process. Tonik is one lucky little boy that is getting a second chance at life. It is highly likely that someone will fall in love with him and that he will be given a home -- especially given the fact that he's received national attention.

His description on PetFinder reads in part, "[Tonik] is not dangerous, but should not be placed with young children because he will get too overwhelmed. He will need a home with lots of patience and good energy. His approx. birth date is 02/01/11 and he weighs 11 pounds."

Hopefully the dog with the human face will be adopted soon.
