A handsome, young husky, who briefly disappeared from his Chilliwack, B.C., home, returned to his family a short time later with terrible injuries, and today, his owners are searching for answers, reported Saturday's CBC News.
Sabre ran away from home on Tuesday, and was back the following morning; at some point during his time away, he encountered someone, or something, which caused him terrible harm.
Sabre's guardian, Lisa-Marie Shymkowich, described the horrible condition her two-year-old dog was in when he was found in their driveway on Wednesday morning:
I went running outside, in my pajamas and he was ... we were just doing an assessment, of what was going on, and that's when we noticed all the gruesome injuries,"
"Just meat, just like, it was just a raw flesh smell. It was awful. It was horrible, and the blood was gushing out from his paw and his bone was exposed. It was horrible."
The veterinarian who tended to Sabre's wounds believes that the dog was injured by a human, not another animal, as evidenced by a lack of bite wounds on his body.
Whatever, or whoever, attacked Sabre, caused the dog to suffer a slew of painful wounds, including lacerations, a ruptured testicle and broken bones in his paws and wrists.
Sabre's injuries have been reported to the Chilliwack RCMP; the family hopes that whoever did this to their dog will be found, and punished.
