The body of the 10-year-old dog named "Maru," was found inside of the minivan which was recovered on Monday evening; there is speculation that the dog may have died from heat related causes after being left inside of the vehicle by the individual(s) who stole it.
Maru had been briefly left inside of the Honda Odyssey on Saturday while her guardian, Nayo Mateo, went inside of a nearby store to pick up his wife and young daughter; the vehicle had been left running with the air-conditioner on to keep the dog cool.
According to the Studio City Patch, the stolen vehicle was recovered at the Studio City Golf and Tennis. The dog's owner were "devastated," upon learning about their dog's untimely death.
Police are dusting the recovered vehicle for fingerprints to help identify the person responsible for the theft and Maru's death.
