According to information from a press release issued on Tuesday by the Suffolk County SPCA, a dog is recovering in Mastic Beach, N.Y., after being thrown out of the window of a moving vehicle.
The cruel act took place on Wednesday evening, around 9 p.m., near the Mastic Beach Post Office.
A witness stated that the dog, described as a pit bull mix, was thrown from the driver's side passenger window of a dark colored 4-door pickup truck. Amazingly, after being hurled from the window, the injured dog began to chase after the very person who had just abused him.
The witness stopped their vehicle to check on the wounded dog - the dog proceeded to jump into that person's car.
The three to four-year-old dog, who is described as friendly, is receiving veterinary care for his injuries.
Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said:
This is a blatant act of Animal Cruelty and we will do everything we can to see that those responsible are apprehended,"
A $2,000 reward is being offered for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this crime. Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
