'Dog the Bounty Hunter' on rocky road as sons jump ship?

It looks like “Dog the Bounty Hunter’s” family members are jumping ship, putting the next season of the show in jeopardy, according to TMZ.  Dog’s two sons, who are main players on this reality show, have left the bail-bond business and severed ties with the rest of the family. “Baby Lyssa” got arrested in the last new episode and was suspended from the business by her father, Duane Chapman, aka “Dog.”

With Leland and Duane Lee’s absence from the “Bounty Hunter” it won’t be much of a family business anymore, which was part of the draw to watch this show. While Dog is a colorful character on the show, his two son’s appeal to the younger set that tune in to watch each week. Without them the show will probably fall in ratings.

The production company sent Leland and Duane Lee letters demanding they return to production or face being off the show permanently. There’s no word on what happened to have these two young men sever ties with the rest of the family.

As far as “Baby Lyssa” goes, she’s now writing a book and in the book she’s promised to explain what happened the night she was arrested. She says she was drugged, which led to the explosive behavior that landed her behind bars for the night.

Dog is a bit controlling on the show, which is understandable to a point because it is a business he worked hard to build up. Sometimes he does treat his adult children like they're still young kids and while they handle it fine when this does happen, it has to bother them being portrayed like that on national television.

Another thing about Dog is that he sometimes takes credit for something one of the other family members did while on a case. In one of the recent episodes, Leland found the bond jumper under a bed and they captured him and when it was all over, Dog was taking the credit for finding the guy. This was confusing especially when even the viewers at home saw that it was Leland who got ot the guy first.

Leland and Duane Lee are getting older and they probably want to graduate to having a bit more control in their career than they get in the family business, as Dog is very much in control. There’s no stepping back for the bounty hunter, he has to control every aspect of the hunt, often shooting down family members suggestions without hearing them through.

Connecticut fans of “Dog the Bounty Hunter” can watch the recent episodes on Connecticut’s Comcast Xfinity “On-Demand” under the “TV Series” icon.
