A reported dog snatching in Lakewood, New Jersey last week has a happy ending, but police are still looking for the culprit.

On Thursday, April 3, someone entered the back door of a home on East County Line Road. Finley, the family's 7-month-old pit bull mix, was reportedly stolen, along with beer and a phone.

On Saturday afternoon, the dog was found barking outside the gate of his home, unharmed. How he got back remains a mystery, and he was wearing a collar and leash that did not belong to him.

The investigation is still active and anyone with information is asked to call (732) 363-0200 ext. 5317.

However it happened - whether he was returned or found his way home on his own - we’re glad to see he is safely back with his family. Welcome home!
