Amazingly, a dog steals food from a pet store and adoptions pour in from animal lovers. Oscar, the three-legged canine shoplifter was caught on camera helping himself to a sausage loaf this week at a New Zealand dairy. And get this: It's not the first time the dog stole from the store.
According to a Jan. 16 report from Gawker, the German shorthaired pointer, who is missing his right hind leg, was caught red-pawed in the act. On any given day when a human shoplifts, it's no big deal. However, when a dog steals from a store, it's worth mentioning.
"About 12 minutes past eight we caught him on the camera. All of a sudden he appears standing looking into the dog chiller, helps himself to a dog roll, drops it on the floor then picks it up and carts it out," said dairy store owner, Esmay Hay.
The dog stole from the store that day, but when he returned, an employee nabbed him and took him off to a local shelter.
A daughter of the pet store owner put up a Facebook page about the sticky-paws sausage bandit. Turns out, hundreds of people want to adopt the three-legged shoplifter. Imagine that; a dog steals food from a store and becomes an instant celebrity.
However, sources say the infamous canine bandit is an escapee and belongs to a local family, who are all away vacationing at the moment. Little do they know, their family companion has an arrest record.
Local authorities say they are familiar with the three-legged dog. It's been known to visit a nearby female dog. Imagine that?
