Dog show in Leesburg (Video)

Every dog has its day; and one lucky dog will be crowned this weekend as "Best in Show." Recognized as one of the “Top 10 Dog Shows in the Country” by the American Kennel Club Gazette, the Middleburg Kennel Club will host their annual dog show in Leesburg Oct. 27-28. Held at the Oatlands Historic House and Gardens, this upscale outdoor dog show is celebrating 29 years of showing and awarding dogs of all sizes and breeds.

The local kennel club will bring many contenders of every breed. In the past, the show has received up to 2,000 dogs in participation from over 160 different breeds.

The dog show will also include tours of the English gardens and over 30 vendors selling pet merchandise and food.

Though the show is centered on dogs, sadly pets are not allowed to watch their fellow friends. Portions of the proceeds will go the Marie A. Moore Fund supporting the education of veterinarians.

Oatlands has been the original venue since the dog show’s debut. Though it initially began as a wheat plantation in 1798, it's been a home to many horses and dogs for over 200 years.

Admission to the dog show is $5 per car.
