Dog show bumps economy

Hey dog lovers; did you attend the Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show last weekend? If not you missed a lot, 1700 dogs and this was spread out in 156 breeds. We all love dogs, we wait on them and they are our entertainment and joy. But here’s is the thing. Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show was covered by reporters from all over the world, with mentions in major news media around the world, as well as every Washington state major newspaper (and of course Examiner.com by at least 3 separate reporters). The estimated number of attendees was (depending on whom you read) between 7, 000 and 13,000.

Kid and Matrix won the Best in Show for small and large dogs respectively. And both were very deserving. Kid (Gch Cambria’s Kid N Play), is a 2½-year-old miniature bull terrier and Saturday March 9th’s Best In Show. Matrix (Tells Matrix Reloaded) is an Afghan Hound and was Sunday March 10th’s Best In Show. It seems as though all the dogs at the CLink (Century Link Events Center) were winners in one way or another. Those of us loving dogs this was our Nirvana.

I love dogs (as all of you know) but beyond the arena there is another benefit here. Look at or think about the impact on our economy. Not all the attendees live here and certainly there was vendors and food, not to mention lodging and all the expenditures which go with an event of this magnitude. We need to get behind like events and help spur on our economy. While looking at those beautiful, cute and wonderful dogs; we are reminded of the Great Northwest and all we have to offer in the entertainment genre.
