According to an article published by Yahoo! Auto on October 4, the Center for Pet Safety and Subaru recently partnered together to test how safe 11 different dog seat belts were, and the results may shock you.
Yahoo! Auto reports that the group created detailed crashed-test dogs that were made to simulate dogs ranging in size from a 25-pound terrier mix to a 75-pound golden retriever. Reports indicate that only one of the 11 seat belts tested by the Center for Pet Safety and Subaru was able to prevent a dog from flying through the vehicle in a crash. The one seat belt that passed the test was Sleepypod's “Clickit” three-point safety harness.
While Sleepypod's “Clickit” three-point safety harness may be the safest seat belt for your dog, it is certainly not the most budget-friendly. Sleepypod.com sells the “Clickit” three-point safety harness in four sizes; extra small, small, medium, and large, and they range in price from $89.99 to $99.99. each size is available in three colors including black, red, and orange.
Subaru now says it plans to offer “Sleepypod's Clickit” three-point safety harness as an accessory with its vehicles.
