Dog Saves Baby

In Birmingham, England, a German Shepherd named Jade takes off racing toward some bushes. Her owner, 68 year old Roger Wilday, was confused by her behavior and her refusal to come back to him. Jade was laying near a discarded carrier bag when he went to her. "I walked over and saw a carrier bag, then I saw it move," Wilday told the Birmingham Mail. "I thought it was a bag of kittens, but then I saw her little arms and a head, and the baby started to cry."

As soon as he made the discovery, he rushed to a phone at a nearby home to dial "999", and then went straight back to the infant. Seven police cars arrived and immediately rushed the baby to the ambulance. She was taken directly to Heartland Hospital, where the staff named her "Jade" after her canine hero.

Baby Jade was alert and happy at the hospital and was believed to be only 24 hours old. After her ordeal, she seemed normal and content at 6 pounds.

Jade, the dog is content as well and being payed extra attention after her heroic actions. Chief Inspector Ian Green said "The consequences of Jade not discovering the baby could have been serious".“The baby was lucky to be found when she was as even just a few more hours exposed to the elements could have had fatal consequences,’’.
