Dog reunited with owner after 10 years: Together due to bizarre chain of events

A dog is reunited with its owner after 10 years had gone by since she was awarded to the man’s ex-wife in a divorce case. Ginger, a Basset Hound, stayed with his ex-wife only a short time before she gave the canine to the animal shelter, which was not known to Jamie Carpenter, the dog's original owner, according to MSN Living on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.

The dog had a good life after she was adopted by an older couple who recently needed to return her to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua, N.H. because they could no longer care for her. Lucky for Jamie that they did, or he wouldn't have read about the Basset Hound up for adoption at Nashua's animal shelter.

The Nashua shelter put Ginger, who is now 13, in their weekly newspaper article, which advertises the animals that are up for adoption. After Jamie read about the dog, he asked if the folks at the shelter to email him some pictures. He also sent them pictures of Ginger as a puppy. Low and behold, the connection was made and that dog in the shelter was his faithful companion from 10 years ago.

Jamie went to the shelter to get Ginger and as soon as she heard her old master’s voice she gave him “a couple of licks or kisses.” Jamie knew that Ginger recognized him once she heard his voice. Now a man and a dog are reunited. They were together when Ginger was a pup and now they’re together in Ginger’s golden years.
