Macie, a 7-year-old female Dachshund/Beagle mix, was rescued from a deplorable hoarding situation in Macon County, Tennessee along with 17 other dogs.
These poor dogs were living their lives inside a storage shed filled with furniture that was covered in layers of feces. There was no escape for them as they were forced to eat, drink, and sleep in horrendous conditions - some of the worst conditions their rescuers have ever seen.
They never enjoyed the fresh air, basking in the sunlight, or felt the grass under their feet, since they never stepped foot outside.
Finally free thanks to Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, Macie went into foster care in West Hartford, CT on September 28.
But shortly thereafter, probably scared, confused, and unaware that she was with people trying to help her, Macie escaped out the sunroom, over the deck railing, and out of a fenced yard.
Not surprisingly given her past, she is timid but also extremely sweet and friendly. Everyone is concerned because Macie suffers from arthritis - for which she takes medication. Although she may be hiding, she could possibly be lured by something tasty - think "barbecue." Please don't chase her, but allow her to come to you.
She was wearing a collar with tag, is microchipped, and was last seen off Pilgrim Road in West Hartford.
If you find her or know of her whereabouts, please call Elizabeth at (860) 394-6581. Macie's past was a life of horror, and her future is waiting to begin.
Please share to help find her, so she can start to trust and enjoy life.
