According to Wednesday's ABC 7 News, a dog who was rescued by a Cooperstown, N.D., family as a puppy, returned the favor on Monday night when he helped protect a toddler who wandered away from home.
The toddler, three-year-old Carson Urness, wandered away from his yard on Monday evening and his worried family quickly put together a search party to find him.
According to KHON2 News, after an estimated 200 people scoured the area for hours, they hit pay dirt when they found the family dog, named "Cooper," curled up on top of the little boy, a mile away from home.
The child's mother, Courtney, told KHON2 News, what her little boy told her after he was found:
“He came up to me today and he goes ‘Mom I was really scared, but Cooper laid on me. He kept me warm.’ And I said what about your feet? And he said ‘no, not those’,”
Aside from fraying a good deal of nerves, the time alone did not harm the boy, who was checked for injuries at a hospital and found to be okay...good boy Cooper!
