According to Tuesday's CBS News, a small dog in Mesquite, Texas, had to have surgery after someone left a rubber band around her snout.
The dog, dubbed "Lilly" by her rescuers, was taken in by the non-profit rescue agency, Paws Patrol Pet Rescue. The organization shared word of the dog's rescue with their Facebook fans on April 22:
Someone wrapped a rubber band around this baby's nose and it has dug all the way through to her sinus cavity. She's having surgery at Creek Crossing Animal Hospital this morning and will have a long recovery before she is up for adoption.
Lilly has had surgery to help remove the infection, and close the opening left from the band which cut deeply into her flesh. She is reported to be feeling much better and she is is already recuperating in a foster home.
