According to Friday's WFTV News, a pit bull mix, presumed to have been used as a bait dog for fighting, was discovered by a good Samaritan in Osceola County.

The battered, black dog, alone near a rural road, was obviously wounded - his face covered in horrific bite wounds and his eyes so infected that they could not be opened.

The dog, dubbed "Titan," was discovered by Ashley Perkins, who helped get him to an emergency veterinarian for care.

The rescue agency, Furever Bully Love Rescue, has taken the badly battered dog under their wing.

On Thursday, the rescue organization updated their Facebook followers with the following post:

Dr V and the Crystal Creek staff have been amazing and are doing everything to keep Titan comfortable and fighting. He ate which is wonderful!! He obviously has never had a good meal...he's so thin...We will see how the night goes and redo blood work to see if he will need a Plasma transfusion. Titan gave me a kiss tonight and laid his head on my chest...I instantly started crying!

Titan if finally out of harm's way and he now faces a long road to recovery. On Saturday morning, the rescue stated that he was "comfortable," and he was able to eat his breakfast.

Local authorities are investigating to see if they can determine who is responsible for Titan's massive injuries.

Anyone who is interested in contributing towards Titan's care can do so via one of the following methods:
