Update 8/9/14: Adopted!

Time is out for a young, American Staffordshire terrier named "Slot." The dog escaped from his family's home on the fourth of July and was taken in at the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter in Calif.

Hopes were raised for Slot after the facility learned that he had a family who was searching for him. Unfortunately, after weeks of working to raise funds to reunite Slot with his owner, the person who had promised to come to the shelter to take Slot home was a no show.

The Friends of Moreno Valley Shelter Animals explained Slot's current predicament:

Now, they have decided to relinquish him, and won't be coming for this poor dog who has been lying in his kennel since July 5th, another dog that got loose after the fireworks.

The only reason Slot is still alive is because the shelter was expecting the owners to arrive and have been holding onto him. All other dogs with his due out date that were not adopted/rescued were already put down. There is no time left - be Slot's hero... He needs out now.

Slot is out of time and past all of the extensions which he has already been provided - at this point, he needs a miracle to walk out of the facility alive.

Please take a moment to network this young dog's information before he is lost forever.
