One of the 22 Navy SEALs was Jon Tumilson, 35, who was funeralized in his hometown of Rockford, Iowa later in the month.

Tumilson' Labrador retriever, Hawkeye  laid by the casket as it was draped in an American flag.  (See picture).

About 1,500 mourners witnessed a touching sight at the funeral. Tumilson's dog walked up to the casket at the beginning of the service and laid down byt the casket of his master according to CBS.

Tumilson’s cousin, Lisa Pembleton, took the picture to share with family members who couldn't make it to the funeral. In the meantime, she posted it on her Facebook page in memory of her cousin.

 Pembleton said:

“To say that he was an amazing man doesn't do him justice. The loss of Jon to his family, military family and friends is immeasurable."

No one seemed to mind that Hawkeye was part of the funeral. After all, he was such a huge part of Tumilson’s life. Hawkeye then followed Tumilson’s good friend, Scott Nichols, as Nichols approached the stage to give a speech.

Tumilson was the youngest of three children. He had wanted to be a Navy SEAL since he was a teenager. He also had an active life outside of the military. He loved scuba diving, martial arts, and triathlons.

What is going to happen to Hawkeye now? Tumilson's friend, Nichols will now own the dog.
