Dog missing since January found shot, frozen in pond (Photos)

On Friday, the animal warden investigated a call about the body of a dead deer seen in a Broadview Heights pond. According to fox8.com, it was not a deer that was removed from the pond, however. It was the body of a family pet named Sienna. The pit bull mix was found frozen in the pond. She had been shot in the chest.

In January, Sienna and another dog escaped from their Broadview Heights home. The other dog was found a few hours later. But there was no sight of Sienna. Her owner, Paul Carpenter, contacted local shelters, put up flyers, and went door to door looking for information on the lost dog. A Facebook page called Bring Sienna Home was set up, and volunteers stepped forward to help find Sienna.

Comments made on the Bring Sienna Home Facebook page are heartbreaking. All along, Paul Carpenter and his family refused to give up searching for their dog. One of their posts read:

McCreary Road Broadview Heights, OH
41.347926 ; -81.672302

Going to walk around Tri-C with or [sic] other dog now. Hope we find her for my birthday!

Once Sienna was found, the family’s search for their pet dog turned into a search for information on whoever was responsible for shooting her. They are now asking for the public’s help in finding who killed their timid, loyal dog who wouldn’t hurt anyone, including their two-year-old son. Another post reads:

Whoever shot her must have been a hunter because they got her right by her heart… Broadview Heights just passed a "No Hunting" law and there was no excuse for shooting her.

Sienna's body is now with the Cleveland APL, and her death is under investigation. Please share this story to help the Carpenter family find whoever is responsible for killing their dog. They state on the Bring Sienna Home page that:

We have closure in knowing that she isn't being tortured or fought, but we are deeply hurt knowing we won't receive her slurpies any more.

Sienna was found at McCreary Road between Wallings and Sprague. Anyone with information on who shot and killed Sienna is asked to call Broadview Heights police at (440) 526-5400.
