According to Friday's KATU News, a man in Hillsboro, Ore., arrived home earlier this week to find a note from animal control on his door, along with a seriously injured dog.
On Tuesday, Marlin Starr's mixed breed dog, "Dojie" slipped from his yard after a gate blew open. Someone had called animal control to make a report about loose dogs who were barking and an officer with the Washington County Animal Control responded.
What happened next depends on who you ask...
Several witnesses in the neighborhood told Starr that his dog fled to the backyard when the officer arrived - they noted that the animal control officer followed Dojie and then hit her in the head with a baton.
The officer claims that Dojie was aggressive.
According to Dojie's veterinarian, the injury may result in the loss of her eye and Starr fears that his dog, who is trained as a river rescue dog, may no longer be able to perform her rescue duties.
The incident is under investigation - Starr has stated that he will sue if the officer who hit his dog is not brought up on charges.
