Monte, a handsome mixed breed dog, has spent well over half of his life at a city municipal animal shelter in Yonkers, N.Y.
In fact, Monte, who is just five-years-old, has been at this facility, since 2009.
According to the people who have come to know this long-time shelter resident, Monte is growing increasingly sad with each day that passes. Through the years, he has seen dogs come and dogs go, but he never leaves - continually passed by potential adopters.
As Monte's despair grows, his health declines.
The dog who should weigh a strapping 60 pounds, instead tips the scales at just 50 pounds...his weight is dwindling along with his hope.
The following information is shared about Monte:
Monte is an easy going dog who enjoys people and may be happier as the only dog, or there may be a female dog or two that he would like a playdate with...we are working on that.
He is appropriate when passing other dogs, and mostly keeps to himself and focuses on his person rather than the passing dog.
He is a sweetheart who loves to spend time with the ones he loves, but can also entertain himself. Monte is a great dog who has been here most of his life, it is time he went home. Local and out of state adoptions are possible.
Though thousands of people have networked on Monte's behalf, not a single person has stepped forward to offer him a home.
Anyone interested in giving Monte the chance to spend the rest of his life by the side of a loving guardian is asked to email: email@example.com or call 201-981-3215.
