Dog kenneled for months at animal control is going crazy behind bars

Update 1/28/14: Astro is out of the facility and in foster care! Thank you to everyone who networked his information.

Last May, Astro was taken in at the Town of Hemstead, Long Island, N.Y., animal shelter.

The three-year-old pit bull initially did well at the facility, but the long months behind bars have taken their toll.

Today, the spark has left Astro's eyes, he has lost weight and he is now spinning in his cage - to the point of exhaustion.

The following was shared about Astro:

Saved from the streets in May of 2013, Astro did well his first few months in the shelter- but after 8 months, shelter stress has affected him...he's lost weight, he spins in his cage, and he's gone ''cage crazy'' in the shelter. No one knows his story, or where he is from- but one thing is painfully clear- he's desperate for love, he lives to please, and he'd like another dog...to play with.

Astro is a friendly boy who wants to be someone's friend - he wants to play and go for walks and cuddle, but he is not able to do that at the facility.

Please take a moment to network on Astro's behalf - all he wants is to be someone's best friend.
