Not certain if you have heard about the newest major issue affecting the ruined automobile capital of the world, Detroit, but it has nothing physically to do with technology save the fact that technology is no longer present. This is extremely evident with the fact that the people that used to live in Detroit proper have hit the high road leaving the city in ruins. The worst thing though is that when they left, they also left behind their pooches to fend for themselves.
This kind of situation has happened in many areas that are destitute, but in a blue-collar area where people relied on manufacturing like they relied on their right arm, the situation is much worse; over a million residents have evacuated – many of which had dogs that they could no longer afford and with the rising amount of individuals in the same type of situation, it was no longer an option to leave the dog off at a shelter since the shelters were over-ridden, so some figured the most humane thing to ensure at least some sort of life for their dog was to leave the dog to fend for themselves. Evidently the thinking must have been that wolves survive in the wilderness, why not dogs?
But what happens when these dogs form a pack and are now threatening the populace that has been left behind? What are the mail people, the street and sanitation workers supposed to do? Are the children safe when they are making their way to their school? It is hard to say. Reports have come in acknowledging that there are even packs of Chihuahuas out and about posing a threat to people on the street. It is kind of a Planet of the Apes type of scenario. Don’t you think?
Numbers have been released about the quantity of dogs that have been estimated to be on the streets of Detroit; it is an overwhelming 50,000 homeless dogs making their way amongst the city’s highways and byways, doing what they must in order to survive.
It is not the dogs’ fault that the situation in and around Detroit got so severe. It is not their fault that they have been left unattended or that there is no room at the inn for them.
People are overwhelmed with their own troubles, but there has to be someone out there that can come up with a proper solution to help the canines without eliminating them from this world. There just has to be an answer that will benefit everyone – especially the dogs that have been left behind.
