Many will surrender their dogs to local shelters when they move houses within the same town. Others will fly their canine friends from overseas when they move from one continent to the other. Paris moved to the United States from Poland with her family, but was dumped at a shelter just outside New York City, where she cries in her kennel all day.
There are so many good things to say about Paris: she loves people, she is even good with children, she is house trained, she is obedient, she is a ball of love. She wants to love and she wants to be loved. She is the perfect age at six-years-old: she still has plenty of life left in her, but she’s way past the puppy crazies.
She was adopted once, but however hard the adopters tried, they couldn’t work out the conflict between Paris and another pet in the home. See, Paris is the best companion one could ask for, but she needs to be an only pet. Because she’s at the Yonkers Animal Shelter, which is a no-kill facility, there’s little to none of the “urgency” that seems to make so many act, these days.
Paris’ life may not be in danger, but for a sensitive dog like she, life at a shelter is no life.
And so Paris cries in her kennel all day…
