We wish every story had a happy ending, but sadly, many do not.
The following one will be difficult to read, but we share it for two reasons - to find the person responsible and in remembrance of this dog's short life.
She was alive, but the extent of her injuries required her to be humanely euthanized.
This innocent dog was not only starved for an extended period of time, but she couldn't stand or walk, had broken ribs, broken bones in her spine, crushed cheekbones, burns on her nose, and a stab wound in her eye.
Animal welfare officials also said she had "some kind of crude cutting to create a serpent-like split to her tongue."
X-rays showed "too many broken bones to count," and terrifyingly, some of her joints that had been dislocated looked as though they'd been "pulled apart."
District Attorney Michael Morrissey expressed concern that this isn't an isolated case and that other animals and vulnerable people in the area could be at risk.
This dog suffered unbearable cruelty and pain in the days before she died and her abuser needs to be punished.
If anyone from eastern Massachusetts recognizes this poor dog, or has any information, please call the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Law Enforcement Department at (617) 226-5610 or Quincy police at (617) 745-5774.
