Canine Companions for Independence(CCI) is hosting the Dog Fest Walk’n Roll on Saturday, October 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It is being held at the Naperville Park District located at 500 West Jackson Avenue at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion in Naperville, Illinois.
The Canine Companions are extremely important to those that they support. These dogs provide their highly skilled assistance to adults and children with developmental and physical disabilities. They best part is that the families of these individuals do not have to pay even one cent for the dogs; they come at NO CHARGE to the person in question thanks to the generous support of the volunteers that work with CCI and the donations that they receive.
The volunteers, dogs and supporters are walking in the Canine Companions DogFest Walk’n Roll simply because they love the canines and they believe in the good work that the organization provides to those in need. Those participating will join other dogs and their owners for a day of fun and festivities that will lead up to their raising money to support the dogs that they place.
The impact that a Canine Companion provides to the disabled person they are placed with is incredible to witness. Several of the individuals and their dogs will be present so that the public is able to see how they have benefitted the duos thanks to their generosity and support.
In addition to the dogs already paired and working, there will be puppies-in-training that you will be able to witness for yourself. The best part is that you will have the opportunity to meet and greet the owners of the Companion Dogs to find out how strong the bond truly is. This event is also a wonderful way to obtain information for someone that you know that could benefit from a service dog.
CCI has formed a team and will be led by a puppy-in-training. The team’s name is Team West. If you are hesitant to pay a fee, don’t worry, there is NO FEE associated with this particular walk. All you have to do is show up! Bring your own dog, your children, grandchildren, sons, daughters, nieces and nephews. Anyone and everyone is invited as this is a family-style community event!
The walk is only 1.5 miles. It will take place along the beautiful riverfront in Naperville. Wheelchairs are very welcome to roll through the event, too, thus the ‘walk’n roll’ name.
If you are unable to attend for any reason but would still like to make a difference in the life of someone in need, you can make a donation. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and every donation will qualify you for reward entries on Choices Fundraising. If you are interested, don’t hesitate to visit either of the two following sites:
