Dog coughs up owner's wedding ring six years after it disappeared

A Wisconsin woman got a huge shock recently when the family dog coughed up her diamond wedding ring five years after it went missing.

Lois Matykowski had given up all hope of finding her lost ring, which suddenly disappeared without a trace after 20 years of marriage.

But the wedding band bizarrely reappeared last Monday, and it looks like Tucker, the family's 10-year-old Rottweiler mix, may have been the culprit.

The mischievous pup, who the family lovingly call the 'Food Burglar', stole a popsicle while Matykowski was playing with her granddaughter outside, and swallowed it whole.

Concerned that the stick might cause the mischievous canine harm, Matykowski called the vet, who recommended feeding Tucker a Vaseline sandwich.

The sandwich appeared to do the trick, but Tucker got sick again two days later.

"He was making goofy noises, and was acting like he was going to throw up," Matykowski told ABC News.

Matykowski’s husband, Don, took the pup out to the yard, and Tucker vomited.

Armed with cleaning supplies to clear up the mess, Matykowski suddenly spotted something sparkly.

"I screamed. I kid you not," she said.

After a thorough clean with a toothbrush and toothpaste, the ring is now as good as new.

Tucker's vet said the popsicle stick might have dislodged the ring, but gave the dog a full X-ray to make sure that there were no more hidden treasures in his stomach.

"My friends have been telling me: 'I want a dog that throws up diamonds,'" Matykowski said. "Who wouldn't, right?"
