Stare into the eyes of Texas. They're burnt orange. They shine brightly, even seductively. Is there glory if you follow? Eternal shame if you don't?
The University of Oklahoma is asking those questions this weekend. Will OU bow down to Texas? Or remain behind in an unknown Big 12 ghetto?
Everybody desires Thee University of Texas. The Pac-10. The Big Ten. The SEC. ABC. CBS. NBC. (Well, not NBC. They're married to Notre Dame.) ESPN. FSN. The Oxygen Channel. Name a conference or a TV network. From their perspective, Texas has buns of gold.
Money is the industry bible, and Texas controls the pulpit and the purse strings.
All of college football (Oklahoma included) worships the almighty dollar, and nobody is about to become an athiest.
What will Oklahoma do? Accept Thee University of Texas and its wishes as savior, or spend eternity in Waco and Stillwater?

I don't know. Texas was never a part of the Big 8 and we did okay without them back then. We still played them every year. I don't see that changing in the foreseeable future, even if we wind up in different conferences.
