During a Capital FM interview (via a February 19, 2014 E! News report), the "Royals" singer suggested that she was open to a collaboration, and that their contrasting musical styles would complement each other.

As she explained, "yeah we are different, but I think the cool thing about Taylor is she is pretty willing to go a lot of places with music. I think that last record, "Red" in particular, everyone was like 'Woah', a lot of ground has been covered. And I think with an artist like her, the sky is the limit."

The New Zealand singing sensation and the country superstar have developed quite a friendship these past few months. Most recently, Lorde and Swift were spotted supporting each other at last month's Grammy Awards.

As the "22" singer tweeted that night, "And you know... We're on each other's team. #LORDE #CLEANINGUP #GRAMMYs"

The feeling was mutual, as Lorde tweeted, "very proud of @taylorswift13 tonight. one of the most masterful performers I've seen."

The now-close pals weren't always so chummy. Back in September 2013, Lorde suggested that Swift's physical appearance was "too flawless" and "too unattainable," and that it represented an unrealistic ideal for young women.

However, in a Tumblr post, she clarified her comments. She explained that her remarks were not an attack on Swift herself, but rather about society's obsession with looks. She also went on to praise the country singer for her "unique vision" and her ability to embrace other imperfections in "an incredibly powerful and relatable way."

Given their recent friendship, as well as talk about a possible collaboration, it appears that Lorde's past remarks about Swift are water under the bridge.

However, not everyone is digging this new friendship. Given Lorde's past comments about Selena Gomez, some "Selenators" feel that Swift is being disloyal by getting close to Lorde. Other reports suggested that the country singer's motives for befriending Lorde were career-driven.

As one rumor suggested, "Taylor is buttering up Lorde, because she wants a musical collaboration and knows that Lorde is the hottest new thing in pop music. Taylor is blowing off the diss. She wants and edgier image, and Lorde is helping her craft that."

Do you love this friendship between Lorde and Taylor Swift? Or is Swift being disrespectful to Selena Gomez? Would you like to see a musical collaboration between Lorde and Swift?
