Does God Exist - Part 2

As a believer, I can somewhat fathom how unbelievers can reject a God who is unseen. But what I am unable to fathom is how these unbelievers think the wonders of God’s creation came to exist. They simply chalk it all up to evolution, the big bang theory and various explanations coming from the world of science. OK, so perhaps one can buy into the big bang theory for having created our planet earth and it falling into a predictable orbit around our sun, and cooling down, earthquakes, seismic shifts, wind and water erosion having formed our mountains and canyons. (although 2/3 of the earth’s surface is covered by water - how this water comes from a big bang is inconceivable to my modest intelligence). But then consider this… so how did evolution result in the creation of the amazing variety of species that now live on our planet? Taxonomists-biologists who specialize in classifying life on earth have identified approaching 2 million different species and it is estimated that this is a small fraction of the actual total. Every year another 15,000 or so species are found. Two recent examples are a bat the size of a raspberry that lives in the foothills of the Andes and a worm that dwells only in the lungs of a specific lizard that is found in Singapore. And these and all the other millions of species simply evolved from an amoeba that was formed by, or pre-existed and then survived, a big bang? Yeah, right!
Jesus speaks of how God cares for the birds in his Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapter 6. There are about 10,000 species of birds alone. I’m not a card-carrying bird watcher. But I’ve seen enough first hand or in documentaries such as Planet Earth to be in awe at the diversity of shapes, sizes, color, behavior, etc that exist among the bird population. Could evolution account for this? Really?
This is a devotion, not a white paper. So I’ll refrain from getting into human genomes and DNA, the hundreds of billions of galaxies that the Hubble Space Telescope site estimates there exists in the universe. I’ll just conclude this devotion with this thought. As believers, we have a real relationship with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and recognize what God is doing in our lives. So we can understand and appreciate the wonder of God’s creation and the unseen. But if unbelievers seriously ponder what can be seen on earth and beyond, it is difficult to dismiss the existence of a God and Creator and perhaps begin a journey into God’s word (the Holy Bible) and a relationship that is beyond anything else that we can experience this side of the grave. I pray that someone, somewhere, will do just that and experience the believer’s joy that surpasses all human understanding.
