Does Edward Snowden Deserve Nobel Peace Prize Nomination for Sharing NSA Secrets

Does NSA infamous NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden deserve to be in the same company as previous Nobel Peace Prize Winners like Rev. Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Lech Walesa, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and other winners? Well it appears that according to the Washington Post, Snowden has been nominated by two Norwegian members of parliament to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

The former illustrious award has certain criteria that a nominee and winner must demonstrate and have “done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses,” according to the Telegraph.

Well, according to these two Norwegian officials the NSA secrets that Snowden released to the world qualify him for promoting peace while he compromised America’s security.

So one has to wonder does Snowden truly qualify for admission to this club. With millions of pages of stolen government eavesdropping documents pilfered by Snowden is that the qualifier? Or is the award itself tarnished with the selection of some of the American recent beneficiaries of the peace prize?

First take the 2007 prize winner, Al Gore, who was best known for claiming to have invented the internet in the 1980’s and losing to former George W. Bush in the 2000 presidential election received the award. Gore did his best ‘Chicken Little’ performance about global warming and it netted him a win.

Then to add insult to injury, in 2009 Barack Obama who had just taken the helm as President of the United States, and was known more for doing pot in college than promoting peace anywhere on earth got the award. So it appears that promoting peace is not the criteria any longer. The peace prize award instead has become a political socialist of the year award used as an international mallet to hit America over the head with.

Consider Obama’s 2009 award and what the fine print states, “Awarded for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.“ Imagine that, Obama could be awarded for doing all that and still can’t improve the economy, fix his failed Obamacare and protect the rights of the unborn. So in effect doing nothing, achieving nothing and blaming America gets you the nominated and the award.

According to CBS News, there is a February 1st deadline for submissions for the Nobel Peace Prize to be received by the nominating committee. One has to wonder if Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton or some other perhaps equally qualified detractor of America’s values will be on the list. Here’s a list Sen. Ted Cruz, Phil Robertson, and Sen. Mike Lee….anybody…anybody.
