The television show "Duck Dynasty" is common among rural area teenagers across the United States.
Basically, a group of people live as though it's 1802 and they often hunt ducks and other animals. Sexist terms are often used and zero respect is afforded to animals.
This ideology that animals are here for human use - just another thing that we can do whatever we please with is harmful to today's youth. It causes a severe form of speciesism and lack of respect for life.
Recently, I watched an episode with a friend who previously had little to no interest in hunting, but after the show he stated "Hey, I should get a hunting license!"
Killing animals for entertainment (or for any reason) is immoral and wrong. It's no different than enslaving an individual based on the color of their skin.
Remember, one day, animals will have equal protections under the law, and when that day comes, don't you want to be one of the people who can proudly say "I helped make that happen."
You can be a Martin Luther King, Jr. by speaking up...animals don't have rights yet, and they don't have a voice, that we can interpret, to speak up for themselves. Be apart of the change. Stand up against hunting, fishing, animal product consumption, experimentation, entertainment and clothing.
