This is direct testimony from a transcript of August 29, 2007, PD016769, Hon. Alan H. Friedenthal presiding, Minor's Counsel Ken Sherman. (Only the litigant and children's names have been changed to protect the identity of the children) :
MR. SHERMAN: ...LEGALLY I THINK IT'S BEST FOR DANNY TO BE IN THE FATHER'S HOME.
IS HE GOING TO GO THERE? I DOUBT IT. IF HE DOES, IT'S ONLY GOING TO BE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.
THE COURT: IF THE MOM REBUFFS HIM, THEN HE'LL HAVE NO CHOICE, RIGHT, EXCEPT SLEEP ON THE STREET?
(Then a dozen lines later) OKAY. THE COURT IS ORDERING THAT MR. JONES IS THE SOLE LEGAL CUSTODIAL PARENT OF JOEY AND DANNY. SOLE PHYSICAL CUSTODY IS AWARDED TO MR. JONES OF BOTH BOYS.
Wow, and they were right. Danny did leave his abusive dad and did live on the streets. Only Danny is in the small percentage of teen street survivors and he did not die before the court in San Diego placed him with his mother. He is clean and sober over six months now.
It seems to this writer that the court is in crisis when it makes rulings that will result in teens running away.
If you have similar transcripts to share, please email bohemian_books@yahoo.com. We can have the greatest system of justice if only the court follows the rules. I think that when society became so anonymous, people were not watching the courts any longer and the courts decided that, even with a transcribed record, the court could do whatever it pleased. Let's take back our courts.
Read about Danny's recovery and what you can do to help your child here.

Comments
Danny is still clean and sober (over a year now), in college and generally a pretty good guy. He may never reach the potential he had before the court got involved in his life. But maybe his story will cause changes that save other lives.
