The Los Angeles Dodgers came into the 2013 postseason with high expectations, but after dropping the first two games of the NLCS to the St. Louis Cardinals, it is now do-or-die time for the team. According to ESPN on Oct. 13, the status of Hanley Ramirez and Andre Ethier are game-time decisions as they battle back from injuries.
Ramirez was struck by a fastball in the first inning of Friday’s loss and was scratched from the lineup for the second game in the series. He underwent a CT scan on Sunday, but the results remain unknown. Ramirez said that he doesn’t care if he has cracked ribs, he plans to be out there and will work through the pain.
Manager Don Mattingly said that the severity of the injury will determine whether or not Ramirez plays, regardless of his desires.
Ethier also missed the second game after his lingering injuries caused him to miss some important plays in the first loss of the NLCS, such as when he missed a Carlos Beltran line drive that ended up as a two-run double. He said he won’t play if there is a chance he hurts his team again.
St. Louis brings out ace Adam Wainwright to pitch in this game while the Dodgers will rely on rookie Hyun-Jin Ryu.
The Dodgers vs. Cardinals live stream can be utilized not just for this big game, but for the entire MLB playoffs. The first game of the ALCS starts at 8 p.m. EST and can be seen on TBS live on cable and satellite systems.
