Dodge Ridge first Northern California ski resort to close for 2012-13 season (Photos)

Unlike some Northern California ski resorts, Dodge Ridge didn’t enjoy an early opening this season. But it did have an early closing.

Dodge Ridge was reportedly the first Northern California ski resort to shut down its lifts for the season. It officially closed the 2012-13 season on Sunday (March 31).

“After closely monitoring the forecast for the coming week it appears that Mother Nature will bring warm temperatures both day and night along with warmer storms arriving with snow levels at 8,000 feet. With the early arrival of spring weather in March and the forecast for continued warm temperatures, Dodge Ridge is officially closing,” Dodge Ridge said in a press release.

The final weekend at Dodge Ridge ended the season with great spring skiing conditions, 95 percent of trails open for skiing and riding, and the annual Spring Fling Golden Egg Hunt on Saturday. There were more then 90 children (11-younger) for an afternoon of family fun, pictures with the Easter Bunny and a chance at finding the Golden Egg, which comes with a Dodge Ridge Youth Season Pass for the 2013/14 season.

“Dodge Ridge would like to thank all of our skiers and riders for supporting us this season and we look forward to seeing you all again for the coming 2013/14 ski and ride season,” the release said. “Be sure to purchase your Season Passes at the lowest price possible for the 2013/14 season during our Early Bird Sale – ending Sunday (April 7).

On Labor Day Weekend, Dodge Ridge has scheduled its annual Slopeside Summer Fest, which will be the official kick off for the 2013/14 season.

The weekend of festivities will include a huge sport shop closeout sale along with BBQ, brews, music and games for the kids. This will also be the first opportunity for passholders to pick up their 2013/14 season passes and their free season passholder commemorative T-Shirt.

Dodge Ridge will open campground operations as early as April 12 at Pinecrest, Fraser Flat and Pioneer Trail campgrounds.

For more information about any campgrounds, visit DodgeRidge.com or for reservations, go online to recreation.gov, or call (877) 444-6777.
